Our August Product Spotlight is on Rockwell Automation’s PanelView 5510. The PanelView 5510 terminals are operator interface devices that monitor and control devices attached to ControlLogix L7 or L8 controllers, and CompactLogix L1, L2, or L3 controllers over an EtherNet/IP™ network. Animated graphic and text displays provide a view to operators into the operating state of a machine or process. Operators interact with the control system by using the touch screen or keypad of the terminal.

The PanelView 5510 terminals include these features and capabilities:

  •  Tightly integrated control and design environment allows information to be shared between the PanelView 5510terminal and the Logix platforms.
  • The Studio 5000® environment provides one point of access for the Studio 5000 View Designer® and Studio 5000Logix Designer® applications.(1)
  • Connection up to four ControlLogix L7 or L8 controllers, or CompactLogix L1, L2, or L3 controllers.(2)
  • Supports a maximum of 100 user-defined screens.
  • Supports a maximum of 4,000 Logix-based alarms.(1)
  • Ethernet communication that supports Device Level Ring (DLR), linear, or star network topologies.
  • High-speed human machine interface (HMI) button control and easily configured navigation menu.

Bussmann’s CUBEFuse Compact Circuit Protector

Our February Product Spotlight is on the Bussmann series Compact Circuit Protector (CCP) for Class CF Low-Peak CUBEFuse, which delivers the smallest footprint compared to any Class J disconnect solution — requiring up to 69% less space.The CCP is a UL 98 Listed fused, branch-circuit disconnect that packs up to a 200 kA short-circuit current rating (SCCR) at 600 V to help increase equipment SCCR.

VFD applications face unique challenges when managing electrical current and other factors. Without proper planning, applications could experience many issues, including disrupted network communication, inaccurate process performance, power loss, motor failure and cable destruction. While there is no official standard for VFD cables, there are critical differences between true VFD cabling, and other cables marketed as such. Any manufacturer can classify any cable as a VFD cable. It is incumbent on the user to understand the construction requirements needed for a given application to select a suitable cable. It is possible to have high copper content, proper insulation thickness, and enhanced flexibility within one cable. With finer cable stranding and the right choice of jacket materials extreme flexibility is possible, while simultaneously increasing copper surface area to reduce high frequency loss and cable heating.

The raceway is suitable for use in applications up to 600 volts between conductors by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. per standard 5A, and by Canadian Standards Association, Inc. per 22.2 no. 62.1-03, when screw secured and installed per instructions. Above Floor Raceway finish is pure color, resists scratches and dents, will not peel or corrode and is available in three standard colors: IW (international white), BL (black), or OS (office slate).

Grace Engineered Product’s Flex-Mount Voltage Indicator

Our HESCO Product Spotlight for June is Grace Engineered Product’s Flex-Mount voltage indicator, a Permanent Electrical Safety Device (PESD) that mounts onto any electrical equipment.

This 3-phase voltage indicator uses redundant, longlife LEDs (flashing or non-flashing options) to provide a visual representation of energy presence.

In addition to the four-wire option, the Flex-Mount is the first SafeSide voltage indicator to utilize an optional five-wire configuration for use on wye power systems.
